Forgive for Good By Fred LuskinThe HEAL method:
H: is for hope. Write what you hoped would have happened.
E: is for educate. Write what you now understand about the event or situation.
A: is for affirmation. Write a positive affirmation about the event or situation you are forgiving.
L: is for long-term commitment. Write what your long-term commitment is to support your forgiveness.
Example:
H: I hoped my father would have acknowledged me, supported me emotionally as well as financially.
E: I understand that not all fathers make good parents.
A: I affirm and declare that all the men in my life are loving, nurturing, honoring, supportive, acknowledge my contributions, and are very financially generous to me.
L: To all the men in my life I honor them in thought, I speak well of them, and I acknowledge their positive contribution to my life. I emotionally support them by seeing the God within.
